The Coke Bottle Effect

masking parenting

My son is away for respite. He will not be himself. He will mask.

Those caring for him will think they understand but as he will be masking, they won't truly know what he needs and he will not tell them.

He will enjoy some of his time, but he will be that coke bottle. Shaking and fizzing. Lid tightly on.

He will come home and be dysregulated from holding himself together and I'll need to be prepared for that.

This is why I only ask advice from parents I know who experience this too. It gives them the power to support me without me starting to doubt myself.
