Exam Accomodations

Ignore the fact that the quote is attributed to Albert Einstein, but wasn't his.

As my son approaches yr6 SATs, which will also decide his sets for secondary, I couldn’t feel more moved by this.

I remember sitting exams and failing because I lost focus, I was a slow writer, I didn’t retain information or process it easily.

But these skills have become my strengths.

I’m extremely good at moving between tasks which means I’m a super multitasker.

I’m great at finding new ways to record information and supporting others. I love structure and process. Creating forms and guides.

I find information quickly. I am always learning and researching, each time I forget something and research it, I learn something new.

A* English speaking exam. E in Film studies says it all. 😂😂

I don’t care about what my children score in exams. I know they will be successful, but when they have to function in a system which uses exams to set their academic scores, it doesn’t help with their mental health at all.

I am waiting for the fall out for my children when the exam system try’s to destroy all the hard work I do to build them up holistically.

Does your child have exam accommodations on their EHCP? I have seen many with this, and then had a very interesting dialogue with one LA who told a parent it wasn’t possible. We found a solution.
